The Sony a6500 is the top-of-the-line APS-C mirrorless model offered by the business. It is capable of recording both still images and video and has image stabilization. It is positioned higher in Sony’s portfolio than the a6300, which looks quite identical to it, and caters to photography lovers who are prepared to shell out a bit more money for the privilege of using a touchscreen and image stabilization.
It should come as no surprise that many of its fundamental characteristics are identical to those of the a6300, which was awarded the DPReview Gold award. The most notable modifications are the touchscreen, the picture stabilization, and the inclusion of a ‘Front End LSI’ (processing processor), which enables the device to do processing that is both quicker and more complicated. In addition to this, there have been a few minor adjustments made, such as the inclusion of a highlight spot metering setting.

When the camera is held up to the user’s eye, the touch-sensitive back screen may function either as a touchpad or as a touchscreen, allowing the user to place the focus point, activate the focus and shutter, or both.
The increased processing power promises a camera that is more responsive; specifically, a camera that enables instant image evaluation even while the photographer is taking a rapid succession of pictures. The menu system on the Sony a6500 has also received a long-overdue upgrade in the form of color-coding, which makes it much simpler to detect and recall the various sections of the menu.
This modification to the menu, as well as the inclusion of a speedy method for quickly selecting the AF point, solve two of our primary concerns with the a6300. However, Sony does not make any claims regarding improvements to either the rolling shutter or the recording lifetime of its products. If you have the most recent firmware installed on your a6300, the camera should be able to record 4K video for the full 29 minutes and 59 seconds that the camera is capable of. However, if the weather is particularly warm or if you have just finished shooting a lengthy clip, this may not be possible. For both cameras, Sony only says that they can record in 4K for “approximately 20 minutes.”
The a6500 utilizes the same form factor (and dial configuration) as the entry-level a6000 as well as the mid-range a6300, despite the fact that it is positioned substantially farther up the market. Although each of the three cameras has two control dials, they are laid up in such a way that the thumb must be used to operate each of them. This requires the hand to be repositioned for the majority of individuals when going from one dial to the other. A constraint of this kind is understandable for cameras priced up to a 6000, but it seems out of place on a camera that costs 1,400 dollars.
Another thing that is comparable to the 6300 and that seems even more strange at this level is that Sony has decided to only provide lossy compressed Raw, which limits the processing freedom that they have.

The Sony a6500 is a remarkable camera that excels in all aspects. The focusing function of the camera is extremely impressive, in addition to the remarkable image clarity and 4K video quality that the camera captures. The a6500 features a large buffer, burst speeds of 8 and 11 frames per second (fps), and continuous focusing, making it an excellent choice for capturing sports and action photography. Be warned, however, that in order to get the most of the camera, it may require some effort on your part to familiarize yourself with its extensive list of features.
