The Alpha a5100 Mirrorless Digital Camera in black from Sony is a digital camera that combines a high-resolution sensor, hybrid autofocus system, and apt video recording capabilities within a compact and convenient form factor. Offering the speed and versatility that are required by multimedia photographers, this camera is available in black. This camera is capable of recording up to 6 frames per second of continuous shooting and has a significant sensitivity to ISO 25600. It does this by combining a 24.3-megapixel APS-C-sized Exmor HD CMOS sensor with a BIONZ X image engine. Full HD video recording is available in the high-quality XAVC S codec, and users have the option to record at a resolution of 1080p at frame rates of either 60, 30, or 24 frames per second. The Fast Hybrid AF system, which combines 179 phase-detection points with 25 contrast-detection points, is designed to give focusing capabilities that are quick, accurate, and consistent. These capabilities complement the multimedia image capabilities of the camera. The a5100 is well positioned to give the all-around performance that modern photographers need while also preserving the comfort that is required for day-to-day photography.

In relation to handling, the a5100 has a sleek design that is defined by a huge 3.0″ 921.6k-dot LCD monitor, which incorporates a 180° upward tilting design to offer easier viewing from both front-facing and above angles. In addition, the LCD has a touchscreen that allows for easy control over image playback and navigation of the menus, as well as the ability to touch the screen to release the shutter and touch-to-focus for pinpoint precision. Seven configurable function buttons provide easy management over a number of settings and modes. Built-in Wi-Fi networking is also built into the a5100 to facilitate remote camera operation and image sharing to linked mobile devices. This connectivity also includes support for NFC-enabled devices.

In addition to the body of the camera, you will also receive a Sony E-mount 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Retractable Zoom Lens. This lens has a focal length range that is similar to 24-75mm when shot with a 35mm camera. This variety of views is ideally suited for everyday shooting, and its utility is further increased by the incorporation of Optical SteadyShot picture stabilization, which reduces the impression of camera shake by a significant amount. The incorporation of one extra-low dispersion element and four aspherical elements, in addition to the incorporation of Power Zoom technology, helps to reduce chromatic aberrations throughout the entire zoom range and contributes to a high level of overall sharpness. Power Zoom technology also enables electronic control over the position of the zoom.

Awesome

The Sony A5100 is proof that looks may be misleading. Although it appears virtually comparable to the old A500 model, the new A5100 is a far more competent camera, especially when it comes to focussing and shooting video. It’s also a considerably more compact option than its larger brother, the A6000, especially considering it provides a lot of the same capabilities and even out-performs that model in a few areas.
One of the key reasons for considering the A5100 is the much enhanced Fast Hybrid AF technology that’s trickled down from the A6000. With 25 contrast-detect and 179 phase-detect points covering 92 percent of the picture, the Sony A5100 is one of the few mirrorless cameras on the market that can properly follow a moving subject and maintain it in focus. Coupled with the competent 6fps burst shooting rate with subject-tracking and the quick 0.06 second AF speed, the A5100 is the finest mid-range small system camera for capturing fast moving subjects.
