The Canon EOS Rebel T8i is a 24 megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) that is compatible with the EF and EF-S mount lenses produced by the manufacturer. In certain areas, this model is also known as the EOS 850D or Kiss X10i. It has an optical viewfinder, but it also has a touchscreen interface that is useable and snappy, and it offers a live view experience that is comparable to the alternatives that the firm offers for its mirrorless cameras.

Mirrorless cameras are becoming increasingly popular among consumers throughout the world, making DSLRs appear to be relics of a bygone period in many parts of the world. However, Europe and the Americas continue to be holdouts for this trend. The ratio of DSLRs to mirrorless cameras sold in Europe was around 1.4 to 1, whereas it was 1.7 to 1 in the Americas. Last year, Europeans purchased approximately 1.4 more DSLRs than mirrorless cameras.

In a world where mirrorless cameras are becoming increasingly popular, why should you even consider purchasing a DSLR? There are still some photographers who prefer DSLRs because of their clear and lag-free through-the-lens viewfinders. Additionally, DSLR shooters have access to a considerably larger variety of lenses than mirrorless camera users do without the need for additional adapters.

However, there are just a handful of manufacturers still operating in the consumer DSLR market. Since only Canon, Nikon, and Ricoh (which manufactures DSLRs under the Pentax name) are still in business, new models are extremely rare. The Canon EOS Rebel series is by far the most popular choice among these options. The Rebel T8i currently occupies the position previously held by the T7i, which was discontinued in 2017.

The Canon T8i is now ready to purchase and can be had for the body-only price of $749.99 or for the kit lens price of $900 (EF-S 18-55mm IS STM).

When viewed from most angles, the exterior of the 24-megapixel Canon T8i appears to be quite identical to that of its predecessor. However, there are some control adjustments to be found on the rear panel of the camera, including a redesigned rear control dial and an AF-On button. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections are still available, however NFC connectivity has been removed. This is because a continuous Bluetooth connection now speeds up the connecting process in the same manner that NFC previously did. Because it can no longer elevate itself automatically, the flash must now be lifted by hand whenever it is required because it can no longer do so on its own. This is a positive development, as we will see in the following discussion.

On the inside, even though the sensor resolution and sensitivity range have not changed, the burst performance has been improved because to a quicker image processor. It has been increased from 6 frames per second in the T7i to 7 frames per second in the viewfinder and 7.5 frames per second in live view mode. In addition to that, in place of the older 315-zone sensor, there is now a newer one with 384 zones that may be used for metering.

A significant focal length crop, contrast-detection autofocus (rather than the more reliable Dual Pixel AF you get in lesser Full HD modes), and a fixed 24 fps frame rate are some of the limitations that come with the addition of support for 4K movie capture by Canon. However, this feature has been added despite these limitations. And the focusing algorithms have been improved to provide eye detection in the live view mode and face detection when shooting via the viewfinder. Both of these features were previously only available in the viewfinder.

8Expert Score
Good

With an overall score of 59, the Canon EOS Rebel T8i is positioned in the top 25 percent of its category as well as the top 90 percent of all cameras contained inside our database. The Canon EOS Rebel T8i has dimensions of 131 by 103 by 76 millimeters and weighs 515 grams. This indicates that it is extremely lightweight and compact, making it one of the solutions that is considered to be the most convenient for its category.
Having said that, it is important to put the technical performance of your camera into perspective. In point of fact, each individual camera function might have a varying degree of influence on the photographs you take, and this is mostly determined by the kind of photography that interests you. Because of this, we decided to create a system called the iCamRank. iCamRank was developed to provide equal weight to all of the various technical features of each camera in the camerarace database. These criteria are weighted differently based on the type of scene being captured.
