The sensor and CPU also enable continuous photography at up to 3 frames per second, which is useful for capturing moving scenes, and video recording in Full HD 1080 at 30 frames per second. A 9-point AF system that incorporates a single center cross-type AF point for increased accuracy and focusing speed is advantageous for shooting with the optical viewfinder, and a contrast-detection focusing system offers refined autofocus precision when recording video or photographing in live view. Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC also enable the option to wirelessly transfer imagery from your camera to a linked mobile device for fast online sharing. The rear 3.0″ 920k-dot LCD provides a bright and crisp image for playback and review, and it also offers a capability to wirelessly share photography.

The Rebel T7 is powered by a powerful 24.1-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 4+ image processor. These two components work in tandem to provide lightning-fast performance throughout the whole system as well as impressive image quality. It is possible to shoot at up to 3 frames per second, which is suitable for capturing moving subjects; a burst can contain up to 150 consecutive JPEGs or up to 11 consecutive raw frames. Additionally, Full HD 1080p video can be recorded at 30 frames per second. The sensitivity range of ISO 100-6400 may be further enlarged to ISO 12800 to improve photography in low-light scenarios. This is useful for working in a variety of lighting conditions, including inside and outdoors.

8Expert Score

The T7 is a mediocre and lackluster entry-level model from a reputable manufacturer, much like its predecessor, the T6, which came before it. Canon is well-versed in the art of producing high-quality cameras, and with some adjustments, the T7 has the potential to become one of those cameras. However, it lags behind other models by an unacceptable margin. The Nikon D3400, which can be purchased for $499.99 from Canon (Opens in a new window), is an excellent choice if you are looking for an entry-level SLR camera that is also quite inexpensive. The image quality is slightly improved, and it is possible to autofocus while video is being recorded, but not as smoothly as with a Canon SLR or the majority of mirrorless cameras.
Even though they cost a little bit more, the Canon SL2 and the Canon T7i are both considerably superior cameras that you should consider purchasing if you are set on purchasing a Canon product. The Sony a6000, which can be purchased for $499.99 from Canon (Opens in a new window), is an excellent alternative for those interested in mirrorless cameras as it provides excellent image quality as well as quick focus in a more compact body.
Unfortunately, it would appear that Canon has chosen to coast on its past successes with the T7, which is quite disappointing. Shoppers ought to have the confidence that the leading brand in cameras would provide them with a product that is, at the very least, comparable to other single-lens reflex and mirrorless cameras in the entry-level price range. No one expects low-cost options to perform as well as professional cameras that are sold for considerably more money, but at the very least, they should be in the same ballpark as alternatives that are priced similarly. The T7 does not operate in this manner at all.
